The first known pecan pie was created by the New Orleans French.  It is a uniquely American dessert, mostly popular in the Southern states of Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Oklahoma, where pecan pie is the official state dessert.

This recipe comes to us courtesy of the Marion Farr, Midland County, Texas Cooperative Extension.
