- **SMI-1** – Wikipedia has this incorrectly listed as the State Farm Animal (03-29-11). ClassBrain has not been able to find any reference to a State Farm Animal being officially passed as a state symbol in Texas. See Texas State Library.
- **SMI-2** – This Symbol of Mistaken Identity was listed by Wikipedia as the State Wildlife Animal of West Virginia (03-29-11). The Black Bear is the only animal currently recognized in the state of West Virginia as a State Symbol. See West Virginia State Legislature: State Symbols
